This is their cage; it's a two level thingy. Guinea pigs need lots more space than hamsters so it's kinda sizeable, but it's in the corner so it isn't a huge space hog. They run in circles sometimes, bounce around on their own (called "popcorning") and chew on balsa wood, but they don't do the wheel thing because it's bad for their backs. :) So, they're pretty chill (but they're a LOT jumpier than cats because they're prey animals).
Bacon bears a strong resemblance to the first guinea pig my siblings and I had as a child, named Herman.
Herman went on to have a number of descendants, most of whom were given away to friends of the family. Although Herman himself is long gone now, he's probably still got some descendents out there somewhere.
I remember after the family got Herman, and my parents decided to go back to the pet store to get another guinea pig of the opposite gender...except that at that time, they weren't sure what his gender was. My parents and my brother assumed Herman was female (that was before he was named Herman, obviously; I think at first he was named Harrietta, which name ended up being given to the second guinea pig we got, the mother of most of Herman's offspring), but my sister and I insisted that he was a boy because he had a boy's face. In retrospect, of course, I don't think my sister and I could really tell anything about Herman's gender from his face, and the fact that we were right was just coincidental.
